Ask's Shabbat Motto
Originally my father raised me with Catholic traditions, although he was aethiest. Then growing up with my Jewish mother, we lit candles and had a family dinner, sometimes doing Kiddush and Challah etc. I went to a mixed level of observance Jewish Day school and did Shabbat and holidays with them. Now I am married to a non-Jew who was brought up Catholic and a self describe nihilist, and totally against all religion. So I usually spend Friday nights with my mother and brother, not lighting candles and not doing Kiddush, but having a family meal together and going to the movies heh. Its a difficult thing I am trying to do. Trying to not make my husband feel that he has to change for me or that it is not "ok" with me that he is who he is, while at the same time trying to not loose who I am....I am looking for Jewish friends to start hanging out with, maybe having shabbat with every once in a while and celebrating other holidays with in a light and fun way, so that my husband can feel it is a normal integration in our lives, a cultural and identity thing, and not necessarily a religious thing.
I have not yet joined a Shabbat table.
Celebrate Shabbat and find a table.
