Michael K.: thanks for the tip on roe, i am always looking for new authors to read as i have a few i read whatever they write and sometimes i go to a bookstore and try and find something new (15 Sep 08 10:55 am)
Chevi/Janice Klein: Or maybe we are all just such avid readers that we don't take time to discuss the books? In between ignoring homework (does reading textbooks for class count as real reading?), I picked up a book I started a few years ago and never even came close to finishing. It it called "Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon" (6 Mar 08 1:11 pm)
Carolyn Hewitt: For a bunch of book lovers, no one seems to be doing any reading! (6 Mar 08 10:12 am)
Carolyn Hewitt: Well, I am marked as a Virtual Person, but I really do exist...so wat am I reading. Last year I got really into medieval murder mysteries and have found quite a few that have prominent Jewish characters. Having finally ofund the library (after 4 months here in Montreal) I am finishing up a bunch of books by Caroline Roe whose main character in a physician named Isaac who lives in Girona Spain in the mid 1300s. I find the time period fascinating, and the books are well written (they get better as the series goes on). :) (25 Feb 08 9:23 pm)

Caryn Farber: Caryn Farber has joined the table (14 Feb 08 8:40 pm)
ilya welfeld: Rashi's Daughters was really interesting. I read books 1 and 2 and while they were not particularly well written - they are compelling. And if you have ever studied Gemarah but had only this vague notion of the people and times - this book really opens up a world. Mostly it is a story of determined, interesting, brave women in a man's world. There is a lot of voodoo medicine etc. I do recommend and they are fast reads. A bit controversial though so if you would be offended by some made-up stuff - and/or "private" scenes ... you may want to pass. (14 Feb 08 8:40 pm)
Amy Gugig: Amy Gugig has joined the table (13 Feb 08 8:33 pm)
Chevi/Janice Klein: I'm currently reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy, when not reading about social work stuff for class, but I'd love to know what Rashi's Daughters is about. Maybe I'll make it my next read! (13 Feb 08 8:32 pm)
Melanie Notkin: I'll probably catch up on some fiction. Been too focused on marketing and PR books lately. never read rashi's daughters. should i? (13 Feb 08 7:37 pm)
