The Young Israel of Sunnyside is an Orthodox synagogue founded in the 1920s in the beautiful Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens, New York, twenty minutes from Midtown Manhattan to the west. The synagogue is experiencing a renewal under the leadership of Rabbi Yonah Levant, who has founded a night kollel, and is building community infrastructure, including an Eruv. The Young Israel has about forty members, giving it a small town, friendly feeling. Our members include young men and women, long-time residents, and survivors of the Holocaust. This is the sole Orthodox synagogue in the neighborhood. The Young Israel has regular services every morning and night.
